// MISSION: OROS_ ![]() ![]() Welcome to our first real plot! We hope you're as excited about it as we are. We're going to be running events a little differently than the standard event post/mingle log combination. Because this is our first event, there might be a few hiccups in how it's organized and managed. Please bear with us if something occurs and we'll get it sorted out as fast as possible! We'll be asking for feedback on the event after it's over, so please let us know what you think. If things worked out, great! If something didn't work out or you thought something was too complicated or frustrating, we want to know that too! But, we will cover that more once this event has been closed. For now, please read this post in its entirety before asking questions! We are trying to be as transparent as possible and give everyone all necessary information. ➣ General Info Starting on JANUARY 9TH, the fleet will enter orbit around OROS. It is an ancient desert planet inhabited by Trilk and Feks. For several hundred years, they have been at peace, which has been brokered under the Einides Plains Treaty. Except something seems to have gone wrong and a civil war has broken out. Immediately, characters will have a message sent to their communicator directly from the captain. PASSENGERS, Characters will be free to choose if they would like to participate in any branch of this mission. Further below we will break down each team and what their duties will contain. There will be no single group log for the event! You'll be able to make your own logs and network posts as necessary. Please tag event-related posts to the network or log communities with the !event tag for easy identification. These have been added to both the network and log communities! There will be two communication filters for characters who are heading down to Oros: team-locked posts and general posts.
Because this isn't a social visit, only characters who are participating in the mission in some form or other will be able to go to the planet. Characters who are not part of the three teams will not be able to go to the planet. ➣ Teams ALPHA TEAM Their mission objective will be protection of Beta Team without question. Alpha Team will take point the majority of the travel distance to keep a clear path for Beta. Members of Alpha will be expected to kill without question or hesitation. Above all, Beta and the Relic must be protected at all costs. The chosen team captain will have to work very closely with the chosen team captain of Beta Team to coordinate movements and make sure they are progressing as a cohesive unit. Please fill out the following form if you have a character suited to Alpha Team and reply HERE: BETA TEAM Their mission objective will be to closely work together as a team to figure out a way past the alien systems to get to the heart of the Trilk base to retrieve the Relic and the best way to transport it back to the Eluvio. The chosen team captain will have to work very closely with the chosen team captain of Alpha Team to coordinate movements and make sure they are progressing as a cohesive unit. Please fill out the following form if you have a character suited to Beta Team and reply HERE: GAMMA TEAM Please see further below on the objectives available and how to complete them! When signing characters up for teams, please choose the team that best fits your character's skills, abilities, and temperament. As this is a top priority assignment, the crew isn't messing around and won't be playing fast and loose with assignments. We'll be looking over sign ups and if your character's abilities and experience don't jell with the requirements of the team you sign up for, we'll ask you to choose another team. Otherwise, we'll be responding with a note that the character was accepted onto the team by the lieutenant in charge. Sign ups for teams will close at 8:00PM EST on Monday, January 9th. If you haven't signed up by then, your character will not be able to participate. Once sign ups close, we'll be RNGing the team leaders and informing the teams of who their leaders are. ➣ Alpha Team Mission Alpha Team will have the busiest job of all the teams. Not only do they have to keep Beta Team protected and provide cover whenever necessary, but they have to keep off encroaching Trilk and Feks (because they definitely are coming)! The landscape of Oros isn't a kind one and Alpha Team will have to mow down everything in their path, be it aliens, trees, walls, or miscellany. Due to Alpha Team forging the way for the mission, they will set the pace and Beta Team must follow. Once they reach the Trilk homebase, Alpha will remain outside the walls and ward off any encroaching alien units. They are not to follow Beta Team inside! Before leaving the Eluvio, each character who is chosen for the team will be provided with:
Characters will be able to scavenge for additional weaponry once they are on Oros. Both the Trilk and Feks have weapons native to their species. More information can be found HERE. It is entirely possible to run out of ammunition during the mission, so use everything wisely! From JANUARY 11TH-FEBRUARY 18TH Alpha Team will be leading the way through the terrain. What they encounter is up to you. What happens is up to you. If Alpha Team and Beta Team wish to split into two groups and flank from different directions, that's fine! You must coordinate between the teams! That is absolutely required. It won't help if Alpha Team is traveling in one direction and Beta Team is staying behind then goes somewhere else. It isn't required for teams to thread with one another (but certainly will count), but team leaders must communicate with their teams and leader of the opposing team! In order for participation to count, we must be linked to an action thread of AC length in either community. This can be done in a group log of 3+ or a regular log. Remember it needs at least 5 comments from each character participating! Please keep in mind that this is a group mission. You'll need to communicate and coordinate with the rest of the players participating on this team. There are no lone wolves. The entire group will either succeed or fail together. Whether Alpha team's mission succeeds or fails is entirely up to the group. You can play it however you'd like, just be sure that everyone involved is working together and on the same page. If the mission's a success, the characters involved will be rewarded once all is said and done with an extravagant sum added to their bank account and a choice of a weapon from the armory. If the mission's a failure, you'll find out what happens on February 17th. ➣ Beta Team Mission Beta Team has, perhaps, the most important job of all the teams participating. Which is why they need to work closely with Alpha Team and follow their lead for their own protection. It will only help in the long run! For the most part their mission objective will be the same as Alpha Team, to just make it to the Trilk homebase alive. Once they reach the walls, this is where they split. Beta Team will advance through six different security checkpoints. What they are is left up to the players to decide, what the inside of the base looks like is up to players to decide, but just be sure the rest of the team is made aware so there aren't any mix ups! Entering this base will not be the easiest task to complete, but it is imperative Beta Team collects the Relic! Once it is safely in their possession, it's time to get their asses the hell out of there! Both teams will rendezvous and hit the ground running toward the extraction point. No matter what happens on the way out, they have to protect that Relic all the way back to the ship. Before leaving the Eluvio, each character who is chosen for the team will be provided with:

Not everything needs to be done and characters can absolutely botch, fail, and otherwise screw up the operations. Or successfully complete them. It's your call. Not every operation needs to be done, these are just here for other things to do besides the current larger mission objective. Characters can work in teams or solo, depending on the operation. A bonus will be rewarded to the characters who complete operations. To receive the bonus, operations must be threaded and reach AC length to be considered. These are first come first served, so please only undertake an operation if you are going to have time to complete it! Players are required to link their completed missions below! It is your responsibility as we will not be checking behind or reminding you. If you do not link a thread, a reward will not be gained! As a note, the threads themselves do not have to be finished when the link is submitted, but does have to be AC length (which means five comments per character) in an action thread! IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE:
THERE'S NO SENSE IN GETTING KILLED BY A PLANT TIMELINE: January 11th-Feburary 2nd - This means the operation can be done and concluded between this timeframe. It doesn't and shouldn't take the entire time. REWARD: A hefty sum to their bank account, a poison elixir recipe and three vials TO LEARN HOW TO FIND, ONE MUST LEARN HOW TO HIDE TIMELINE: February 3rd-5th - This is a timed mission and will take the three days. One for travel from their drop point, one for exploration to discover the location, one for travel back to their pick up point. REWARD: A hefty sum to their bank account, a bag of gems native to Oros A GOOD MANY DRAMATIC SITUATIONS BEGAN WITH SCREAMING TIMELINE: January 11th-February 11th - This means the operation can be done and concluded between this timeframe. It doesn't and shouldn't take the entire time. REWARD: A hefty sum to their bank account, a case of 6 marble sized anti-matter grenades GREED CAN BE A VERY POWERFUL ALLY TIMELINE: January 11th-January 26th - While this doesn't need to take the entire period, it can if you want it to. Characters will just absolutely have to be back aboard the Eluvio by the 26th. REWARD: A hefty sum to their back account, a traditional Trilk bracelet made of bone and iron WE ARE DREAMERS, SHAPERS, SINGERS, AND MAKERS TIMELINE: January 11th-January 26th - While this doesn't need to take the entire period, it can if you want it to. Characters will just absolutely have to be back aboard the Eluvio by the 26th. REWARD: A hefty sum to their back account, a traditional Fek necklace made of a delicate chain that appears to be gold and a strange hologem disk If you would like to claim an operation, please use this first form and reply HERE. Upon operation completion, please comment HERE under the proper heading! ➣ Event Timeline JANUARY 9TH - The fleet will enter orbit around Oros. Team sign ups and mission objectives will be discussed with the characters by the lieutenants in charge. JANUARY 11TH - Characters participating in the mission will be taken to the planet's surface as early as possible. Those who have committed will have received all provisions the previous day. JANUARY 11TH TO FEBRUARY 18TH - The bulk of the mission and operations will occur during this time period. FEBRUARY 15TH - The outcomes of all missions are due and must be submitted under their appropriate comment heading HERE. FEBRUARY 17TH - We will be posting the information for the end phase of the mission to the OOC community. FEBRUARY 18TH - FEBRUARY 28TH - Aftermath of the mission. ➣ Penalties Because player participation directly affects the course and outcome of the plot, we ask that you be sure you're going to have the time and ability to take part in what you sign up for. If you're unsure of your tagging availability, please don't sign up for critical missions or plot roles. Players who sign up for plots and then fail to participate will be ineligible to sign up for the next two consecutive mod plots. However, we understand that life happens. If you sign up and something happens that will prevent or limit your participation, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can offer the space or role to another player. Failure to notify us of such circumstances will count as non-participation and the two event ineligibility will stand. We won't be honoring notifications of non-participation after the fact. ➣ Additional Details Please use this post for questions, sign ups, and plotting. As you're completing threads and missions, please submit them to THIS POST under the appropriate comment heading. The information you provide on this post is what we're going to be using to determine the outcome of the event on February 17. We encourage you to be creative during this plot by using the information that we've provided about the planet and nature of the mission. You don't need to ask us if it's all right to have a run-in with a giant reptilian monster or if your research group can find a specific kind of plant or anything of that nature. We want you as players to be able to contribute to and alter environments of the game as a whole. So if you want your research team to find a purple fern-like plant that induces temporary invisibility in whoever ingests it, that's great! As long as it fits within the framework we've provided, doesn't kill any player characters, or break the game the answer is yes. IMPORTANT NOTE: We're noticing that there's a very high interest in Beta team, however, everyone can't be on that team or the mission will fail outright. If there's still a large disparity between the members of Alpha and Beta when sign ups close, we will be RNGing characters for the team. How many slots will be determined by the number of characters in the game and the number who signed up for Alpha. We didn't expect interest for one team over another to be so high. So we wanted to make everyone aware of this potential change in the team as soon as possible. |

EXPERIENCE: he's been in the military for a while, was in some program and the team heavy there sooo he is pretty much made for this team
ABILITIES: he's crazy skilled in fighting and all kinds of weapons ( the bigger the better, eyyy )
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: he knows how to work in a team environment and is used to missions like these where he has to protect something/someone else. basically he's a bullet sponge just to make sure others are safe. and quite frankly he wants to get off the ship and do some damage...

EXPERIENCE: Wash's been in the military since he was 18. He started off in the normal military and then was picked up by a special ops division.
ABILITIES: He's a normal human, but he's got special armor that gives him superhuman abilities. He's trained in multiple types of firearms, hand to hand, knives, and incendiaries.
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: Wash is all about teamwork and protecting his team. He's used to putting his life on the line to protect others. Also killing people doesn't bother him.

EXPERIENCE: She's infiltrated some bases before, to stop certain magicians from accomplishing illegal things. She's a magician who follows orders pretty well, but aside from that, she doesn't have much experience as say, her brother.
ABILITIES: Elemental magic, but mostly focused on ice magic. She's also knowledgeable of martial arts. (why do that when you can fight using magic, though...)
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: She is all about protecting!! She does look rather dainty but her supernatural abilities give her more to work with, and she doesn't really mind killing people if it's for the sake of justice or whatever it is that is """good""".

EXPERIENCE: K-2SO is a KX-Model Enforcer Droid built to provide facilities with more efficient security. In that regard he can handle a wide array of weapons and has deadly accuracy with his aim. He has been reprogrammed by Cassian and thus has a bit of an attitude and is not fond of being told what to do, but generally does it to some extent. He was built for defense and enforcement but can manage offence as well.
ABILITIES: He can withstand the environment with out need of support gear. He can carry more than the average human. He have deadly accuracy with a blaster or other projectile weapons. He has good computer skills and could assist in things in that matter as well. Very good at telling the odds of a successful job.
Can be sacrificed and rebuilt later if need be.ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: He WOULD have wanted to go with Cassian and Jyn in Beta team, as he is also skilled with computers and would rather keep close to the people he knows, but I think he would have been assigned to Alpha team for his abilities and it looks like we need more people over in Alpha anyhow.

ABILITIES: full weapons training and hand-to-hand specialty to keep ammo use down, plus some stat bonuses from her armour if they're allowed to wear their own gear for this?
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: protecting people and getting objectives met is basically her whole deal, because she is easily swayed by praise from command and really really hates losing (people or the mission). she's also used to leading operations like this so will probably argue icly that she's best suited for the job oops.

ABILITIES: Enhanced strength, speed, and agility because he's a Cylon. Also a pretty good shot with firearms.

EXPERIENCE: Participation in 3 years of isolated guerilla warfare on a small team (he functioned as the main tactician and came up with most of the plans), with at least 2.5 of those years under complete secrecy. This involved espionage including but not limited to surveillance of marks, spying and eavesdropping, computer hacking, and 'tagging along' with marks in tiny morphed form. Marco is very comfortable with use of and hacking computer systems both human and alien, and is a very quick learner with alien tech (he has a lot of practice at it).
ABILITIES: Marco has the ability to morph into any living creature he can touch and acquire, can stay in that form for 2 hours and while in morph is capable of communicating silently and privately. More in-depth explanation here.
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: He can also provide firepower/protection via battle morphs if necessary. Good at working on a team, won't leave a teammate behind, but also is uninclined to be ethically complicated.

EXPERIENCE: most notorious hacker in overwatch's verse. genius in hacking and cryptography. professional in espionage and intelligence assessment. has supposedly hacked into what's called a "god program", sentient artificial intelligence with almost deity-like influence over the world's inner-workings. has stolen experimental technology, has brought entire megacorporations to their knees, and boasts over twenty years of experience.
ABILITIES: as stated previously, is an expert in hacking and cryptography. can hack through touch and filament-like code from her gloves and, thanks to cybernetics grafts, can upload extreme amounts of information directly to her head. can use thermoptic camouflage to blend into her surroundings and achieve "invisibility". uses a translocator to essentially teleport herself to a recall device she can throw out at her leisure. finally, has an electromagnetic pulse that covers a certain radius that nullifies all tech in the vicinity.
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: can work well in a team environment, but is a bit of a loner when it comes to socialization. she'll become reclusive and desire to work alone if she decides the team is worthless and impeding her. this could get the rest of the team into a great deal of trouble, but she'll always return in the end. gotta stay alive!

ABILITIES: She's experienced in martial arts, firearms (sniping in particular), infiltrating secured locations, safe-cracking. Can also be a field medic as needed.
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: Not particularly social and probably will chafe a little bit at the forced teamwork, but I'll make it happen.

ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: Able to fight/help defend team if alpha team falls through for whatever reason, either naturally or through morph. Used to working tightly as a team, but is skeptical of the mission and is largely signing up in order to stay in the loop.

EXPERIENCE: Born and bred ninja (with an assassination specialisation) and Slayer (Oni hunter, and often performed reconnaissance in dangerous, demon-filled environments)
ABILITIES: Silent movement, concealment, spying, recon and stealth killing. Fast and very agile. He can see invisible things. He can lay a field which makes those within invisible and unheard (six uses, lasts 30 secs with a minute refractory period). He can also lay a field which stuns enemies for 10 secs (two uses, ten min refractory period). Any incendiary grenades he throws will burn hotter and longer. He has some other less relevant powers detailed here, like self-healing, armour-breaking and reviving other people from unconscious states.
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: He has no experience with hacking or firearms. Excellent with a knife however -- and even better with a pair. Would like to trade the handgun and ammo for a second knife. His invisibility/silence field will make him excellent support for any hackers while they do their thing.

EXPERIENCE: he's been in the military for at least a decade and is used to the whole space fighting thing ( tho tbf it's more fighting in space than on land ). he's good at tactical plans and strategy, serving as cag for a while on galactica as well as being commander of a battleship.
ABILITIES: as stated above, he's got a good handle on being tactical and forming strategies on ops like these. he likes to think before he acts to make sure things will be a success rather than explode into a fiery mess. he's a decent fighter, knows how to use multiple firearms.
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: he works pretty well in a team environment and has an incredibly strong moral compass...??

EXPERIENCE: Nearly 20 years as an active member of either anarchist or rebellion factions during the Imperial Civil War spanning several planetary systems. Has experience as a solo ops member, part of a duo/team, leading said duo/team
ABILITIES: Baseline human as far as combat goes, but he is a great shot and an ace programmer/hacker, so he can help along those lines as well. Knows some basic field medicine. Good at organizing teams and amazing at both boots on the ground and wider strategy.
ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION: Cassian is used to acting towards the benefit of team, being sneaky, killing people without making a lot of noise, yadda, yadda.

ABILITIES: Jyn is a baseline human with vague force sensitivity. She is an expert brawler and an accomplished blaster marksman, knowledgable in explosives, grenades, truncheons, and small arms. She is hecka sturdy and will not stop until whatever her goal is has been completed.

Gamma - Nerds with Plants
My only major personal goal besides trying to turn this serious endeavor into a camping trip involves possibly having what appears to be a sample going rogue on our intrepid heroes, maybe some kind of weird alien rodent that can camouflage itself as one of the plants in question.
