It was brought to our attention that the AC failure/reapp part of our AC policy didn't make any sense and after discussing it, we agreed. So we made an adjustment and would like to explain and clarify what's going on. We also want to clarify what counts as the AC period, as there's some confusion over that as well.

The AC period is January 1st through January 31st. All proofs must take place in January. Comments made in February will not count toward January's AC.

➣ For January's AC period only

If you don't have the required AC and you want to remain in the game, comment to the AC CHECK POST and fill out the form. Where you would link your proofs, just state that you don't have the proofs and that you will reapply for the character when applications open in February. The application period for February is February 4th through February 7th. Resubmit the application for the character during the app round.

Your character's journal will remain in the communities through the application period. IF YOU FAIL TO RESUBMIT THE APPLICATION, your character will be considered dropped and will be swept from the game and the communities.

➣ For future AC periods

If you don't have the required AC, your character will be swept from the game. You will be able to reapply for that character during the following month's application round, provided that the character is still available to be apped. Please be aware that once a character is dropped it is considered up for grabs by anyone who would like to apply. If someone reserves before you, you are welcome to challenge, but simply playing the character in the game previously does not guarantee your app will win the challenge.

So for example, you fail February's AC (which is held March 1st through the 5th). Your character will be swept from the game. You may then reapply in April. If someone else submits a reserve for that character in April before you get to do it, you can reserve and declare your intent to challenge. However, both applications will be reviewed equally. Yours will not be given preference just because you played the character last month. By that same token, yours will not be placed at a disadvantage just because you didn't pass AC.

➣ Unexpected Consequences

As the Eluvio's crew prepares to send a retrieval ship down to pick up Alpha and Beta teams, disturbing reports of thermonuclear explosives detonating on the planet's surface start coming in to the command center. Scans show multiple detonations across the face of the planet and more happening every minute. The identity of those responsible for the initial warhead launches is indeterminable from the information the crew's able to compile, but one thing is certain: the deactivation of the defense grid by Beta team made it possible.

It's a race against time to get the teams back before nuclear fallout reaches them, but when the ship touches down at the LZ, another wrench in the works is discovered. Groups of frightened Trilk and Fek, conflict forgotten in the face of extinction, are futilely attempting to flee unavoidable death.

Captain Larson sends out a call for all available pilots willing to brave the falling bombs to head to the surface and evacuate as many of the Trilk and Fek as possible. There's no way to save them all, but the least the crew can do is try to save some of them.

➣ OOC Details and Information

Regardless of whether they participated in the any of the missions, all characters are now able to travel to the planet's surface to round up Trilk and Fek and evacuate them back to the Eluvio. Characters capable of flying spacecraft will be able to fly the Eluvio's cargo ships and those who can't are welcome to accompany the ships to help the evacuation effort. Please note that only pilots and characters with experience flying spacecraft will be permitted to fly the cargo ships. There isn't any time to teach the skills to characters that don't already possess them.

There are 20 cargo ships. Each cargo ship can hold 1 pilot, 2 non-pilot crew members, and 5 Trilk or Fek. This means that the maximum number of aliens that can be rescued is 100.

When Alpha and Beta teams arrive the LZ, there will be Eluvio personnel on hand to explain the situation. These characters will then be able to individually decide to either return to the ship or help with the evacuation.

The evacuation efforts will last from February 1st through February 4th. After that point, all ships and characters will be recalled to the Eluvio whether they have the full 100 or not. The Eluvio will then set a course away from Oros, leaving it and the remainder of its inhabitants to their unfortunate end.

Player participation will determine how many, if any, of the Fek and Trilk are rescued. Remember that the maximum number will be 100.

Once the alien refugees are brought aboard the ship, they will need to be integrated into life aboard the ship. Luckily for both the aliens and the Eluvio crew, there are some "experts" on hand to help the transition.
TRILK - One of the potential groups of Trilk refugees will be the individuals Gamma Team 4 encountered. If rescued, the Trilk will manage to convey to the Eluvio crew that they want those team members to serve as their liaisons for adapting to life in the fleet. This means that Allura, James Kirk, Leia Organa, Hera, and Leonard McCoy will be designated the resident Trilk experts.

FEK - One of the potential groups of Fek refugees will be the individuals that Gamma Team 5 encountered. Because they are at least a little familiar with those team members, these Fek will convey to the Eluvio crew that they want them to serve as their liaisons for adapting to life in the fleet. This means that Eichi Tenshouin, Yuuri Katsuki, and Victor Nikiforov will be designated the resident Fek experts.

LIAISONS - Liaisons will be asked to help with all things related to their alien of choice, whether that's mediating disputes between the still hostile groups, teaching them (and learning themselves) how to communicate with everyone, or helping them set up quarters and use the Eluvio's technology. Thanks to everyone's collective ventures on the planet, the R&D Department will have compiled a mostly good codex of the Trilk and Fek languages. This decoding and language dictionary will be uploaded immediately to all character devices on February 4th!
Please feel free to NPC the Trilk and Fek as you desire. If you want to use them for a plot device, go ahead. If you want to have your character help one set up a jewelry shop and be best friends, that's absolutely allowed. If they become too unruly and need to be thrown out of the airlock, well, these things do happen!

The surviving Fek and Trilk are assumed to be the last of their kind. For the time being, please assume that they're going to be a permanent part of the fleet.

IF YOUR CHARACTER IS GOING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVACUATIONS please comment HERE with the name of the character(s) involved (groups no larger than three), the type of alien rescued (Fek, Trilk, or a combination) and the number of each. Please remember that a cargo ship can only hold five of the aliens at a time due to their size. Characters can make multiple trips, though the combined number of Fek and Trilk refugees cannot exceed 100. Because of this, please don't claim that your character or your character's group saved all 100. Everyone who wants to participate will be able to do so and will be given credit ICly for it.

But that's not all! The ripple effects from the Oros Mission will be felt for considerable time to come. For instance:
Lee Adama and Agent Carolina will be awarded medals of commendation for their leadership in the field. These medals are made of an unknown substance and shaped like a sixteen-point star. (Just a little FYI, you guys might want to hang onto them.) They'll also be given free passes to the day spa to get some much needed R&R.

Dorian Pavus will be offered a position with the Research Department, where he'll be tasked to learn more about the samples Gamma Team 3 brought back to the Eluvio. He'll be trained to use all available technology. Once proficient, he'll be asked to create video and holographic models of Oros using the video that Team 3 took.

Reim Lunettes will be recognized for his quick thinking during Gamma Team 2's mission and will also be awarded a position with the Research Department. He'll be asked to create models and maps of the area in which the team buried the Beeping Device.

Koumyou will, upon arrival back to the ship, find one of those weird mutant rats that Gamma Team 2 had a run in with in his quarters.

Sombra will find a holographic puzzle box sitting on her bed when she returns to her quarters. It will be extraordinarily difficult to solve even for her talents. When she does manage to get it open, she will find the first of a series of clues. (When Sombra gets the puzzle box open, please PM us so that we can provide you with the first clue.) There's a mystery afoot that, once unraveled, will begin to shed a tiny bit of light on what's really going on aboard the ISC Eluvio.

The events of the Oros Mission have set off a string of events that will steer us through our first plot module. The next installment will begin in March. Keep an eye on the OOC comm for further details as February draws to a close.

It's that time of the month: Activity Check! This runs from the 1st to the 5th of every month. All characters are required to respond to the post. All players need to fill out the form provided below! If you do not respond by the 5th, you will be removed from the game!

➣ Rules
We require two proofs in any combination of the following:
  • Ten comments from your character in a single thread on a network post or an IC contact/inbox post
  • Five comments from your character in a single thread in a log post
  • Multiple threads cannot be combined to reach the required number of comments per proof. Which means only two threads will be accepted for monthly activity and they can be in any combination as listed above. All threads must be from posts made during the AC month. In the case of inbox threads, the top level must be dated within the AC month.

    Characters who do not have enough proof are considered dropped and will be swept from the game! Players can reapp these characters in the following app period so long as the mods are told in this post. We do understand that sometimes other circumstances may prevent players from reaching enough comments, and will work with players in these situations.

    Players who idle/do not post to AC or the drop page will be swept from the game and barred from reapping into the game for a month.

    If you have gone on a hiatus, please link your comment from the hiatus page! Remember that only hiatuses lasting 2+ weeks will excuse you from AC.

    Hello, players! In light of the Alpha and Beta teams reporting in that they'll be reaching the LZ for extraction on January 31st, we're going to be moving up the mission timetable accordingly.

    The bulk of the Oros mission will now be ending on January 31st.

    This means that all Gamma team operations must be ICly completed by January 31st. OOCly, you're of course welcome to backtag your logs for as long as you'd like.

    Three of the five Gamma teams have reported back with their mission results. Therefore, we ask that teams ONE (THERE'S NO SENSE IN GETTING KILLED BY A PLANT) and TWO (GREED CAN BE A VERY POWERFUL ALLY) report in with their results by midnight EST on Tuesday, January 31st.

    On Wednesday, February 1st, we will be putting up the mission aftermath information. Please be advised that the outcome of this mission will have lasting effects for both the crew and the civilians of the fleet. Whether your character participated in any of the missions or not, it'll be a good idea to read what happens.

    Also on February 1st, we're going to be putting up an after-event feedback post. This will be an opportunity for you as players to give us the mods feedback on the mission and how it was run. We'll also be asking for your thoughts on some ideas we have for addressing problem areas we noticed crop up during the course of the event. In addition to providing feedback to the mods, we'll also be asking you to give feedback to your fellow players. We've been made aware of some issues that arose and we'd like to offer you an outlet for discussing among yourselves how to handle such issues going forward so that future missions and events progress more smoothly.

    Sign ups for all mission teams are now closed. Below are the teams and leaders for both Alpha and Beta! You are all free to use this post as a means of organization and plotting. Please remember that both teams must work together! Or not...

    As a general reminder for everyone participating for all three teams: February 15th is the due date for all mission turn ins! They are due in THIS POST by 11:59PM EST February 15th! You don't have to be finished threading everything! We just need the results of your team missions by that date. If nothing is turned in, they will be marked as a failure and change the course of the plot just the way a success would.

    Since this is our first event and a rough estimation of how long it will take the teams to complete their objectives, this date is not set in stone. If all teams complete their objectives prior to February 15th, we'll move events up accordingly.

    If your character was not picked for Beta team and you would still like them to visit the planet, you are welcome to have them join one of the Gamma teams.

    That being said, congratulations to both teams and their leaders. We look forward to your results!

    ➣ Further information
    Now that the teams are chosen, we'd like to provide a little more information about the conditions that Alpha and Beta teams will encounter during their mission. Remember that you are absolutely free to make up things along the way for the teams to run into or issues that arise. Things can go wrong or things can go right, the choices are entirely up to you!


    Due to the conflict on the planet, the Eluvio's crew can only get you so close to the Trilk base. As it turns out, that Landing Zone is approximately 150 miles away. That's about 8 days of foot travel, give or take a few hours depending on how fast you go. And, of course, pending any obstacles that may block your path. You'll be outfitted with gear to survive the climate and enough water and food rations for a few days. Weapon loadouts per team are on the original mission page here. Water can be found in rare instances. Edible plants and lizards are more common than open water sources, especially at night. Water can be found in a variety of plants. When you find some, make sure to replenish your supplies.


    Alpha Team, it's going to be a long haul getting from the LZ to the Trilk base. You're going to have to get both teams past Fek raiding parties, Trilk patrols, and hostile wildlife native to the planet. Security and defense is your responsibility. Members of Beta can help fight, but your objective is to get every one of them inside the Trilk base alive. In matters of safety and security, your word's law.

    Once you reach the base, it's your job to secure the area while Beta team heads inside. There's a wall with gates and guard stations. There are automated weapons systems. There are Trilk guard patrols. There might even be a few incursions of wildlife or Feks taking advantage of the chaos.

    Maintain your parameter and keep a clear path from the entrance of the base to the exit through the outer wall. Once Beta team returns to the surface, get them out of the area and back to the LZ.

    Don't let your guard down. There will be Trilks chasing after you, desperate to get their Relic back.


    Beta Team, the Trilk base is an enormous network of caverns with a multitude of fortifications. There are dozens of Trilk guards, all of whom are armored and well-trained. There are also automatic weapons systems in place that detect movement, heat signatures, and a change in air flow. You'll have to get past the initial fortifications outside the entrance to the base and through six levels of well-guarded territory.

    At the heart of the base, you'll find a complex case made of hardlight, inside which is the Relic. There are multiple ways of opening the case: brute force, hacking the system, destroying the computers that are generating the hardlight, or turning off the primary defense grid. Turning off the defense grid will also shut off the Trilk automated weapons systems, making your escape much easier.

    Once you've got the Relic in hand, beat a hasty retreat back to the surface, reunite with Alpha team, and get your butts to the LZ.

    Today at 1315 standard time, the following announcement will be played over the ship's comms system:

    Attention, crew and civilians. This is Captain Larson. We will be engaging the hyperdrive at 1330 today. Hangar bays will be closed for the next seven days while we travel through hyperspace and will reopen when we return to sublight speed. Thank you for your attention.

    That will be the extent of the message. No further information from the captain or any of the crewmen will be forthcoming about where the ship's going. Characters will not be able to access to navigational decks to speak with the captain or the commanding officers of the crew. Rank and file crew members seen around the ship will not have information to share. Civilians will know nothing, but will not be concerned and will treat the announcement as an ordinary part of life on the ship.

    The holiday party log is now LIVE! You're welcome to start posting whenever you'd like, but please remember this is not ICly happening until December 24th. Feel free to get creative with the information provided! There will be two aspects of the party that will require sign ups, so read below to find out more information! If you have any questions after reading the entire post, please ask them below. Otherwise, you're welcome to use this post for plotting amongst yourselves!

    ❆ Plot
    The first sign-up is a piece of plot-relevant information! This information will be overheard by one character, who can then ICly disseminate it as appropriate, whether that's at the party itself or in posts and logs after the fact.

    We'll be picking the character who'll overhear the information through RNG. You have until 8:00PM EST on Saturday, December 17th to sign up. After sign ups close, we'll be PMing the player of the character chosen with the scenario and the information.

    Because this information is only going to initially be available to one character, we ask that you only sign up if you're going to have the time to ICly spread it around to other characters in the game. Once characters start to hear about the information, they're welcome to talk about it to others too.


    ❆ Ice Maze
    The second sign-up is for the ice maze! Characters will be required to enter in groups of two. Before they enter, a helpful member of the party staff will supply them with visors. These are to be worn at all times within the maze. Taking them off prior to crossing the threshold of the exit will terminate the experience.

    When signing up, please list the names of the characters who will be entering the maze together. We will respond to your comment with the various things your characters will experience within the maze. Note that we will provide loose ideas and you are free to expand upon them any way you wish! You can then thread out the experience however you'd like!

    ➣ Welcome!
    First off, we'd like to extend a great big thank you to everyone who's apped into the game! We hope you have a lot of fun here and we're striving to make this a great place to play. So please don't ever hesitate to give us feedback about events or the way things are going.

    The game will officially start on December 11th. There won't be any mod posted logs, so you're free to start posting to the network and log communities any time on the 11th.

    In the interest of making sure that no one misses anything due to holiday obligations, we're going to hold off on getting into the meat of first plot module until January. Until then, we encourage players to build CR, explore the ship, and most importantly, have fun with the setting.

    Exploration-oriented characters will discover that there are some sections of the ship they won't be able to access. At this time, characters are prohibited from entering the command center on the control and navigational deck and engineering. Entry points to these locations will be blocked by doors that require access codes, retinal scans, and voice identification. Attempting to hack, breakdown, or otherwise get through them will be met with failure.

    Characters may hear overhear crewmen talking about "getting ready for the job." They'll hush up immediately when they realize they're being overheard and direct inquiries will result in variations of "the captain'll brief you when it's time." Owners of restaurants and textile shops might seem in higher spirits than usual as the end of the month approaches.

    We encourage you to ask questions about the setting. If something seems fishy or a little too convenient to your characters, investigate. Chances are, it might lead them to interesting places. OOCly, you can drop us a comment here if your character's going to go poking around anywhere and you'd like to know what they'll find.

    You're welcome to use this as a plotting post for general shenanigans or to work out specific things for the upcoming party.

    Regarding applications - We've been approving applications received since 8:00PM last night so that as many people as possible will be present for game start. We will be processing any applications that we receive tonight and tomorrow as we get them as well. Starting Monday, December 12, we'll begin doing app processing every Friday after 8:00PM EST until apps close. So if you notice a few people trickling in, that's why!

    ➣ Walking in my winter underwear
    Because even in space, everyone needs a little holiday cheer!

    On the evening of December 24th, the atrium will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland. Throughout the day it will be closed to visitors while the workers of Eluvio decorate and get everything ready to be enjoyed. Though this will ICly be happening on December 24th, we will be posting a party log on December 16th. The standard party fare will be available with loads of food, dancing, games, ugly sweater contests, and snow! It's a classified secret how they got that in, best not to ask.

    That evening, once everyone has retired to their bunks, visions of sugar plums will dance in their heads (literally or figuratively, it's your choice). Everyone in the fleet will be visited that evening by unknown persons and upon waking may find a gift or two in their quarters. If you would like your character to receive a gift, please sign up (by responding to the appropriate comment below) by December 14th so we can respond before the log goes up!

    ➣ Planning Ahead

    In January, we're going to be offering sign-ups for a special plot. The number of slots available for this will depend on how many characters are in the game. We're mentioning it now because we would like you to start thinking about whether you'd like to participate or not.

    This plot will be a long one, spanning months instead of weeks, and will require secrecy on the part of the players involved. Think of it kind of like a murdergame, where some players are playing victims, others are playing killers, and nobody's OOCly or ICly telling each other which they are.

    We'll provide further details about the plot and what it will entail in January.

    Welcome to the game! We hope you enjoy yourselves here. This meme will go up with every app cycle and it serves two functions.

    First, it will allow players to introduce themselves to each other and explain a little bit about the characters they're bringing to the game.

    Second, it'll be our CR/Handwaved CR meme. You can discuss how your characters meet, plot things you'd like to do in the future, and whatever else you'd like.

    Handwaved introductions aren't mandatory. You're absolutely welcome to thread these things out via logs or network posts if you'd prefer. We are just offering players a chance to skip over the seemingly endless loop of small talk in Intro Hell.

    The game will start on December 11! Keep an eye on the OOC community, as we'll be posting information for the start of the game there during the evening of December 10. We will also post the announcement to the game plurk at [plurk.com profile] eluvio.
